we all float
Thursday, January 31st, 2008

we all floatI’m excited, because last night I won a lot of 5 old alarm clocks on eBay. They’re perfect as parts/props for a photo shoot I have in mind. Yes, that’s right, photography! Remember, that thing I used to do occasionally? Before I got sidetracked by birthdays and contests and Boston? I’d nearly forgotten, myself. But now I have a few local folks who’ve volunteered their time as models, and I’d better take advantage of their generosity before the semester gets too crazy.

In the meantime, I’ve been doodling. I spent the evening working on this little girl, whose head is threatening to drift off into the clouds to join her floating friends.

Not that I’d know anything about having one’s head in the clouds, of course!

no love for ice
Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

I fell on the icy front steps this morning, bruising my butt AND my ego in one fell swoop. I lay there on my back for a few minutes, partly out of shock and partly because if that was any indication of how the rest of the day would be, I wasn’t in a big hurry to find out what else it had in store for me. Yeow.

All this is really just to say, my happy birthday contest ends tomorrow at 11:59 p.m. I will draw the winner on Feb. 1, so go go go!

stuff with a little stuff on the side
Monday, January 28th, 2008

stroller Booyah! Back from Boston and feeling surprisingly energized. Maybe a vacation from the day job was exactly what I needed.

While I was away, celebrating my birthday and figuring out how to use MBTA public transportation (with the help of my friends, of course), my photography was featured on Artist a Day! Yay! I find it a bit odd that the show pieces they chose were from 2004 and not something more recent, but whatever. The extra link-age was a nice birthday gift.

I’ve got another custom doodle to tackle tonight. My shop has done exceptionally well this month–in fact, it’s been my best month for sales yet, so pardon while I brag a little. :) If you don’t want to watch my head swell, you should check out some of these links instead:

happy birthday to me!
Thursday, January 24th, 2008

i carry your heartYes, indeedy. As one friend so eloquently put it, I’m a quarter of a century old today. So flattering, indeed, to have one’s age measured in terms of centuries! Grar.

It’s been a good birthday, with lots of well-wishes from friends and family. T & I went out to breakfast, then did a little birthday shopping. He cooked a delicious dinner and baked a double-chocolate cake (yumm). All in all, a good day, indeed.

Yesterday I met up with a new volunteer model, Danielle, for a general “get to know you” chat. It turns out that we have a lot in common. We ended up talking for upwards of five hours (and in a Denny’s, no less - I don’t think I’ve ever spent five hours in a Denny’s, let alone five enjoyable hours) and I think I made a new friend! Yay!

As if that wasn’t enough social interaction for one week, tomorrow I’m catching a bus and heading to Boston for the weekend to spend time with old friends. And that’s why I’m cutting this one short–I have to get up early! Goodnight all!

wow…
Sunday, January 20th, 2008

I am so excited! Only one day after unveiling my new “custom doodles” listing I have two new orders. Two! I am so incredibly flattered and surprised, and I am having so much fun working on them. So much, in fact, that I’ve basically done nothing else all day, haha.

There is another custom doodle offer up in the shop!

The one other thing I did accomplish today was to buy a treadmill. Yay! I finally found a decent used one for sale, so T & I drove all over the bumpy back roads of Maine in a borrowed truck to go pick it up and bring it home. It’s sitting in the middle of the living room looking very ominous… because now that I have it, I have to use it. Feh!

Now, if I rigged up something like this, I would walk a lot more…
